I wish I could give this place another half star 4.5 is spot on. Is it fancy no, is it pretentious no is the food exceptional Yes. I was blow away at how good this food was. All the time I've lived in the hudson valley and never found this place before. Everything coming out of the kitchen was prepared perfectly. I started with the chili and my date had the shrimp spring rolls. The chili was a 9.5 out of ten. If they cut up the peppers and tomatoes into smaller diced bits it would have had even more flavorful and given a more uniform texture. With that said it was insanely good and unexpected. The chips were super fresh and of high quality nothing cheap about this dish except the 8$ price tag. I would pay double for chili this good. My date had the cheesesteak and it was wonderful and perfectly cooked, very juicy and the bun complimented the steak and was able to stay together even with all the juicy goodness most buns are wimpy and cheap and do not hold up to a juicy cheesesteak well done chef. Ok I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich but requested the chicken to be deep fried. What a mouthfeel and what a juicy delicious sandwich. Make sure if you order this you get a bunch of extra napkins and it's so flavorful and juicy it will get everywhere. I will be back on many more occasions to sample the rest of this great menu. It was hard to decide what to get as we saw everything coming to the other tables looking so good we kept changing our minds. Their burgers looked great and I may try that next. Their steak fries were amazing perfectly cooked and flavored really well. I almost upgraded to the waffle fries as I normally do but heard the people next to us raving about the steak fries. Maybe next time when I come back I'll try the waffle fries as they looked good to. The bar upstairs needs some tables I don't ever want to sit at the bar and eat. Had they had tables on Saturday night karaoke night I would have stayed until closing and spent lots and lots of money with my friends. Like me and many people we know who came for karaoke just left altogether because of no tables upstairs. Such a shame I'm glad we stayed and ate here because it was worth it. To the owner please add some tables upstairs you have way too many downstairs on top of each other and adding some upstairs would make downstairs less crowded and moving them upstairs would provide more seating to paying clientele who want to spend time and more money there. Karaoke in Saturdays be there.
George is a Rock star!! Every time we come here, we're lucky enough to have George as our server. Service is solid, the atmosphere is cozy, and the food is always very good.. highly recommend!! Also, good beer selection., and the music is good.
Delicious wings!! Ordered the handshake sauce and BBQ wings for a family party and they were a hit!! Couldn't decide which were better, honestly loved them both. Highly recommend
We visited for the weekly burger special. The restaurant is a very casual place and was not packed. The service was hood and the burgers were tasty. Good place for some bar food (burgers & wings)
I happened to be at Knights of Columbus, right next door, and got a whiff of the food at Handshakes. Luckily the food tasted as good as it smelt outside! My chicken sandwich and onion rings were delicious! I was not crazy about the stir fry that my husband ordered (but also who orders stir fry at a bar and grill?). The service was quick and the waitress was sweet. Very low key vibe and good comfort food.

I have not eaten there in the dining room for a while. I do take out a lot and upstairs at the bar. I wa in the past a little ddisappointed in the service and thought it could use some updates. WELL THANK GOODNESS.. a few minor changes and it was so good. The service was so good. I didn't have to wait for ever. There was a blonde new girl running around cleaning seating and waiting on people. My waitress was also new she was adorable. Food came out in a nice amount of time. And of course as usual the Handshakes wings are the best in NY state as far as I am concerned. The burgers are great. I was so very happy with everything. Thank you Handshakes for the improvements in service and the updates in the dining room are great. I will keep coming in to eat again. Because you have very good food. The wings are the best...
